KTRS-Phishing-Attack

Don't worry, here is your weekly dosage of Tech Talk on KTRS just in case you missed us last week! As a reminder, Tech Talk presented by SumnerOne airs on Friday afternoons at 4:20 on The Big 550 KTRS!

Our IT Expert, Steve Heinle, shared his knowledge and tips to protect users from phishing scams. Just like Guy Philips said, that's phishing with a "Ph" and not an "F." Phishing is the practice of sending fraudulent emails pretending to be from a reputable company in order to get people to reveal personal and financial information.

Steve's advice for avoiding a phishing scam include:

  • Don't reply to an email if you weren't expecting it.
  • No reputable financial institution will ever ask for sensitive information over email, give them a call before you hand over that important information.
  • Be on the lookout for emails that look poorly executed and contain grammatical errors and wrong information.

Be sure to watch last weeks segment of Tech Talk on KTRS and remember to tune in this week on The Big 550 KTRS on Friday afternoon at 4:20.
