On April 24th, Roeckle was awarded the "Patriot Award" during a sales meeting at the Corporate Business Systems office in Springfield, Missouri. Tyson Johns, Regional President, and several other employees witnessed the presentation of this prestigious award.

Dan Roeckle was nominated for being highly supportive of the military Reserve Component members and their families by Brett Blacksten, a Technology Consultant, with Corporate Business Systems. Blacksten is a Specialist assigned to Company D, 1/135th Infantry Battalion, Carthage, Mo. 64735, Missouri Army National Guard. Blacksten is currently enrolled in the Officer Candidate program to become an officer in the military.

Col (Ret.) Steven Vanderhoof, ESGR Area 4 Chair, conducted the award presentation ceremony, made opening remarks and thanked Corporate Business Systems for providing jobs to Guard and Reserve members.

Blacksten says, “Dan served in the United States Air Force and was deployed to Afghanistan. As Director of Sales, he's very team-oriented and always puts our team first. He's also supportive of our life outside the office. He holds family above all else and knows they come before work. When I have to miss work for National Guard training, he is always the first one to help me out while I am away and knows how important they are.”

Because of the support from his employer he requested this award be presented in an official public ceremony.

According to Rear Admiral (Ret) Lee Metcalf, ESGR Missouri Chair, "The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees, who like the citizen warriors before them, have answered their nation's call to serve. Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation's National Guard and Reserve units."

As the 1.3 million members of the National Guard and Reserve continue to perform an increasing number of unique missions with America's borders and beyond, ESGR will continue to be the resource for the employers of citizen warriors. ESGR advocates relevant initiatives recognizes outstanding support, increases awareness of applicable laws, and resolves conflict between employers and service members.
